STRESS BUSTERS
For Mind,Body and Soul
BUDGETING CATEGORY #3
CATEGORY #3
You have discovered that you have enough money to cover all of the monthly expenses and emegencies plus extra, but you never seem to have anything left at the end of the month.
So Where Has All The Money Gone?
Out of the 3 Budget categories we have covered this will probably be the hardest budget to follow.
The reason being - you are used to living a certain life style .
This doesn't mean that you are careless or throw your money away, it means that you are content to spend what you have, and when its gone its gone.
Where Does The Stress Come In?
It rears its ugly head when the unexpected event comes up - for example a big trip that all your friends are going
on but you can't afford it because you haven't accumulated any excess funds.
SOLUTION:
You have the budget plan that you started with here. Now once you have met all of the obligations on that budget
how much do you have left over?
This is before your emergency or entertainment allowance.
1) Divide your monthly bills by the number of pays you have coming in.
For example if you get paid twice a month then divide the monthly total by 2.
This is the amount of money out of each pay that goes into the bill fund.
2.)Now look at whats left over. Lets assume you have $200. From each pay.
Take 1/2 of that and put it into the emergency fund.
3)You now have $100. feft from each pay.
This could be your entertainment money,
but if you want to go on those trips with your friends,
then start a separate fund.
Take 1/2 of this =$50.and put it into a special event fund.
That means you have a $100. Monthly entertainment allowance,
BUT you also have a $100. Special event fund.
Enjoy that big trip that you'll be going on!
Perhaps if you were to stay home and have an entertainment night on your computer you might be
less tempted to spend as much money.
