The difference between a manicure and pedicure doesn't seem to be all that different. The main emphasis when dealing with the feet is the dead build up of skin and calluse which is much less prominent on the hands.Having the basic pedicure tools likes pedicure bowls and pedicure files helps to make a home pedicure simple. A french pedicure puts the finishing touch on your foot treatment.
PEDICURE - A HOME TREAT MADE EASY
Lets face it our feet take one awful beating each and everyday. Perhaps that’s why after a good pedicure they feel wonderful, because of the before and after contrast. The following will take you through a step by step home pedicure where you can let the items you use do the work for you, and you can enjoy the effects.
Step One:
Gather up all the products you are going to need which are 2 large pedicure bowls (or footbath).2 towels, a pumice stone, a body scrub, nail file, pedicure file, scissors, and foot cream.
Step Two:
It would be ideal if you had a proper footbath with all the features like the massager and the heat control. If not then two large, pedicure bowls will work just fine. Fill the first bowl with comfortably warm water, and the second one a little warmer because it will sit for a while before you get to use it.
Step Three:
Start by soaking both feet in the first pedicure bowl of water. Soak them for about five minutes while you just sit back and enjoy. Then take one foot out and in a circular motion gently rub the foot scrub over the entire foot, both top and bottom. Put this foot back into the same water and repeat for the other foot.
Step Four:
Wet your pumice stone and shake off the excess water. Working on the one foot damp dry it and gently work the pumice stone over the callused areas of your foot. If your feet are heavily callused, do not attempt to remove it all at one. This will require several pedicures. Make sure you keep the pumice stone damp but not dripping wet. You don’t want it too dry or it will create friction and could make the calluses painful.
Step Five:
Rinse both feet well, and push aside the first pedicure bowl of water and put the second pan in front of you. Now soak both feet for two or three minutes. This is your rinse water. Take out one foot dry and cut your toe nails straight across. File them with the soft side of the nail file to remove any rough edges. Put this foot back in the water and repeat for the other foot.
Step Six:
Take one foot out of the water dry and gentle use the foot file over the heavy built up areas of skin on the bottom and sides of the feet. Use the coarse side of the pedicure first then the smooth side. Put this foot back in the water and rinse well. Repeat for the other foot.
Step Seven.
Dry both feet well especially between the toes. Now give both your feet a thorough massage with your foot cream. Be careful when you stand up as the cream will make your feet slippery, and you don’t want to fall. Top this off with a beautiful french pedicure and you will have picture perfect feet accomplished by your home pedicure.
The Easy and Safe Way to Get Rid Of Head Lice
It’s not too many youngsters that make it through school without at least one case of head lice. Those that were fortunate enough not to be afflicted either had a brush cut or were away on vacation when the epidemic broke out. These nasty critters are one of the most annoying items one could possibly suffer with. Although for the most part they are not a serious health risk, they are highly contagious and in some cases, they can aggravate to the point where the sufferer scrapes the scalp from scratching. This opens the way for infection.
There are products on the market for treating lice, and they do so effectively. The problem is that these products are a chemical and cannot be used too often. This is where a further problem sets in. Being as they are so contagious and so common re infection quite often occurs. The following is a step-by-step treatment that you may want to try if you or someone you know is suffering from a lice infestation.
Step #1:
Gently heat up some oil such as olive oil or vegetable oil. Depending on the length of the hair, you will need a fair amount of this. You want the oil to feel just comfortably warm. Be sure to test it on your skin before you apply it.
Step #2.
Now pour the warm oil over the entire head just as you would if you were using water before you applied the shampoo. You want to massage this oil through the hair so it is thoroughly applied to every hair. It doesn’t need to be dripping wet, just wet enough that the hair is well soaked. Do not allow the oil to get into the eyes.
Step #3:
Pile all of the hair to the top of the head. Now cover the hair with a plastic bag or plastic wrap to hold the heat in. Then wrap snugly with a warm towel. Leave this on for a half hour.
Step #4.
At the end of the half hour, remove the towel and the wrap. Divide the hair off into small sections. With a lice comb, comb through these small sections of hair. Comb through once and then wipe the comb on a piece of paper towel, Do these each time before you comb through the rest of the times. Depending on how heavy the infestation is you will want to comb through several times. You will see the dead lice on the paper towel that you are removing with the comb. However, that’s not the end of it.
Step #5
Once you have finished combing the task is to get the oil out of the hair. Mix about a quarter of a cup of white vinegar in a quart of warm water. Now carefully pour this over the hair. Make sure you do not get this in the eyes. Keep the individual’s head well over the sink and give them a face cloth to hold over their eyes. Pour this mixture on slowly as the odor is very strong. Once you have applied all of the mixture, work into well into the hair, as you would shampoo.
Step #6:
Now rinse the vinegar solution off the hair and shampoo and rinse twice. Then repeat the vinegar rinse again.
Step #7:
Finally, rinse the hair with clear water until the odor of the vinegar is gone. There should not be any oil left in the hair. Dry the hair with a clean towel . NOT the one you wrapped the hair in.
Step #8
Run the lice comb under hot water and dip in pure vinegar then rinse it again. Comb the hair through once or twice and pick out any lice eggs that you see on the strands of hair.
This treatment is usually only required once, but in the case of heavy festation, you may need to repeat it in a day or two.
